Newham’s Housing Needs service is making good progress preventing homelessness and reducing its’ use of temporary accommodation.

We are determined to continually improve our performance and to provide customer centred services. Recent changes to our management structures at the Housing Options Centre, the Temporary Accommodation Service and the Lettings Agency have focussed on these objectives. Newham’s Homelessness Strategy has just been completely reviewed. It contains ambitious targets for the service that require our staff to fully engage in joint working and partnerships.

We have vacancies in a number of key areas. These are excellent opportunities for people who can demonstrate relevant experience together with a commitment to service delivery and achieving performance targets.

Visiting Officers

Ref No. HP43319A Scale S01 Salary £26,064 – £27,672pa

You will be a member of a Prevention and Advice team. Your work will include undertaking home visits to prevent homelessness through mediation. You will have knowledge of homelessness legislation and experience of providing a detailed advice service. A good communicator, you should have the confidence to address difficult housing circumstances in a direct manner.
